Cinemeccanica 2/22/2001 Remove the exciter lamp cabinet. It is attached to a mounting bar with one screw and spring washer facing the front of the projector. The damper assembly may need to be removed to gain access to the screw. Remove the outer sound drum bell and the existing solar cell bracket. LED Bracket Install the split film guard onto the sound drum axle. Slide the guard all the way back to the inner bell and tighten clamping screws. Install the LED bracket with the three screws provided. Route its wiring through the hole previously used for the solar cell signal cable. Leave mounting screws just loose enough so the bracket can move up and down under slight pressure. Replace the outer sound drum bell. Check that the sound drum does not rub against the LED bracket. Reader/Mounting Bracket Attach reader bracket to mounting bar using the screw and spring washer from the exciter cabinet. Leave the screw just loose enough so the bracket can slide back and forth along the bar. Slide reader into bracket until the tip of the lens is about 10mm from the sound drum. Tighten the lens clamp so the reader is just free to slide in and out and rotate. Connect all wiring to the reader’s Phoenix connector as shown in Fig. 1. Mechanical Alignment Reader alignment procedure for the V5/V8 is similar to that of other projectors covered in the manual; the main difference is the Cinemeccanica has a non-adjustable film path and relies instead on lateral adjustment of the reader/lens assembly. The object is to get the reader assembly lined up through the center of the soundtrack. It will take a bit of patience to obtain correct lateral alignment due to the fact that the mounting bar/reader bracket has no exact mechanical reference to the center of the soundtrack. LED/Reader Optical Alignment Alignment is essentially the same as for other projectors except for the instructions outlined below. Run Dolby tone test film to make an initial mechanical alignment of the LED assembly and reader/lens bracket assembly. There should be a slight glow from the green audio signal presence indicators when the Dolby tone loop is run. Twist LED bracket up and down to obtain maximum brightness on these indicators. Tighten the three LED base plate screws to hold this preliminary adjustment. Slide reader/bracket back and forth for optimum and even brightness on both LED’s. Tighten the bracket mounting screw to hold this adjustment. Proceed to the Optical Alignment for focus and azimuth. Crosstalk/Buzz Track Thread and run a combination Cat. No. 97/Buzz Track test loop as discussed in the Hint on page 11. Loosen reader bracket screw and slide the reader bracket along the mounting bar to obtain satisfactory crosstalk and buzz track waveforms (Figs. 8 thru 11). Tighten the screw holding the adaptor to the bar once you are satisfied the reader is positioned optimally. Continue with the optical alignment procedure paying particular attention to securing optimum alignment of the LED as shown in Fig. 12. Recheck crosstalk and buzz track results and use the readers lateral solar cell adjustment mechanism as needed to achieve an optimum crosstalk and buzz track setting. The adjustment screw is accessible through a small hole in the side of the electronics module. Set Dolby level. The alignment procedure is now complete. |
